Erik Lagerberg och Henrik Melin present today their thesis about ”Benefits and risks of implementing a dynamic shelf life prediction system”

A proposed way of coping with the enormous food wastage in today’s society is to use something called dynamic shelf life prediction. With the use of sensor technology and data modelling, an accurate prediction of the actual shelf life can be estimated by continuously monitoring the temperature of the food.

The thesis aims to explore the potential positive and negative effects of the implementation in a supply chain of such a dynamic shelf life system. The prerequisites needed for the positive effects will be identified from the supply chain actors’ and the DynahMat system’s perspective.
